Colin Stephens' write up of the sixth round of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship (18 March 2018):
The outlook at 6am from out premier inn window was of snow.
A ‘interesting’ drive later we arrive at a snow covered circuit ready for the next round of the Motorsport News Circuit Championship.
Walking part of the circuit was bad enough let alone driving at speed, but we are Rally people this is what we do.
Couldn’t ask for a much better start, 7th quickest after SS1 and 1st in class. Cancellation and Finish the event now would of been great!.😉
We were again on the right tyres for conditions and previous knowledge and experience of the circuit helped.
Dropped a couple of places on ss2 which we expected as the faster runners of the field woke up.
By the lunch break we were about 15th overall and 3rd in class.
The afternoon stages dried up and we tried playing with different tyres and some suspension settings, which gave us mixed results.
Happy to finally finish the day 16th overall and 3rd in class.
Thanks as always goes to he fantastic Lotusbits service crew and thanks also to to all the marshals that stood out all day in some terrible conditions.
Hopefully weather will be better in 3 weeks time at Cadwell Park.
